Golf has always been a big part of the Dootz’s.  In fact one of our sons, Todd Lensing "Dootz" is a
professional golfer. Accordingly, a criteria for our base camp was that it had to be on a golf course.
It took awhile to find a good fit, but after being in the Cobble Creek community for about two years
we are happy. I was talking with a friend of mine back east about the practice facilities. He was
suprised to learn that ours is better than what they have at his club which is the site of multiple
major championships.

My golf focus is directed to the short game, putting, and mental routines and our facilities provide a
perfect venue to work on these aspects of the game. This short game area is where I spend much
of my time working with local junior golfers.

When we moved from North Carolina, where golf is big and a year round activity, we thought
Colorado would be a big adjustment. We were pleasantly surprised. While we don't play all twelve
months, we do manage to get in about ten months of playing time each year.

Southwestern Colorado is golf crazy. We have a number of courses in the area including courses
designed by Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus that are nationally ranked. One of the best parts of
playing golf here is the spectacular scenery with vistas and views of snow capped mountains in
the back ground.

We will keep you updated on where to play golf when you visit and some tips on each of the
courses. In addition, we’ll scatter in some images so you will have some idea of what to expect.

The driving range is excellent and even has a bunker for practicing fairway shots which is pretty
rare. We also have a short game area with multiple bunkers offering different challenges and
types of sand shots. Plus, we have two practice putting greens. Who could want more?
